Yes, the Front still looks thunderstorm active, see what it looks like later in the day.
Still on the cool side here, 14C, dewpoint 10C and overcaste.

No gale winds to speak of this morning infact just a fresh gusty NWer,but currently just breezy.
High cloud band went through overnight so the sun has been shining all morning so far, i am still thinking a reasonable chance early this afternoon but time will tell.
Cheers

The Front needs to be showing plenty of promise as the All blacks play tonight, I'll decide later.

What an amazing looking sky we have out there at the moment, the sun is out and high cloud is about but out to the NW its like a huge haze and now its over the port hills so they are almost hidden in it. I think there could well be a huge fire somewhere? Does anyone know anything about that? It gives the impression of rain or a low cloud around but its 22 degrees with a light northely if u can even call it that.

Big rain band around north otago at the moment out to sea though.

Happy Birthday David.

Don't know if I can make it. We are decommissioning a radio site, starting at 2pm. Not sure how long it will take... Then there is a few hours travel as well.

Would like to experience a decent storm on the West Coast in the evening.

Good luck guys.

Its dust blowing from inland must be really picking up there noticed that before Mark, its actually quite strange because the wind is more Northerly and its fresh and gusty at times then absoulutly no wind for about 10 minutes.
I have been watching those lower bits of scud type cloud develope and move along in the last hour.
Next few hours will be critical as the fronts move up the island :-) .
Ohh yeh happy birthday David may the thunder gods be with you.

Thunderstorm chances look best over Northland, further north the better according to latest GFS 18Z.
Yes, warm front will bring increasing dps, should rise to 15C from current dps of 8C.

Looking ahead, Tuesdays system is worth watching out for, looks to be quite a dynamic system with thunderstorm possibilities. :bounce:

I could of sworn that the temperature was about 22 or so at 12, and it jumped up to 26.8 at 1, geez! Shows that I should check every 10 mins to avoid surprises like that :p, I hope something eventuates today.

Which tracker was that Melja? steven grahams is only picking up strikes around Westport although i think there is a problem with that ever since he moved house.
Looking black to the South and SW now with CU tops about.
Its Westerly but it doesnt feel dry almost a moist feel in the air i think the humidity must be rising now.

I wonder if those strikes are coming from the stuff coming in or the trough moving over Otago.
Can clearly see a change line coming now here's hoping  .

Why is that tracker not part of the 3 that are set up now? it would make the triangulation of it all better if there were 4 running together.
