Hi everyone.
I would like to know if anyone around Christchurch, Rakaia, Ashburton or even Timaru noticed any hole punch clouds between 6:00pm and 7:00pm on saturday ?
I was driving south and I saw some "funny" holes in the clouds in front of me while the conditions were changing, a bit like when a hole punch cloud just happened ... but unfortunately, I was far too late to see the phenomenon.
Last time I spotted some hole punch clouds the conditions were quite the same (except for the wind) and they were forming some sort of a line, almost perpendicular to the altitude winds.
On the following picture you can see the last one of 3 hole punch clouds that day, the one which died just before is just above (slightly on the right) of the previous, and the last one was on the right hand side of the picture.

And just for fun, the pictures of the development of that particular hole punch cloud :

I never noticed the 'hole-punch' from here at West Melton but thanks for a good photographic eveidence of that event happening. It looks like an air sinking effect.

Sorry, I forgot to precise the pictures ARE NOT of the event I witnessed on saturday evening. I took those pictures on the 30th of May around mid-day, on my way to the West Coast (I was between Kaiapoi and Amberley at the time of the shooting) ...
But it looked so similar to what I saw on saturday that I wonder if the same thing happened again or not.
