Too early to write the weekend off. May one remind one that Wellington will be the only ODI not damaged or ruined by rain this season? (almost a certainty for Napier tomorrow)

Is that meant to be 'weekend low' or 'wee low'?

Does Twenty-20 count. Best weather of the Tour, Eden Park, Boxing Day, Clear skies, light winds, 26C.

Hopefully the nice weekend low has gone from the models by the morning, looks ugly for January with people on holiday.

It could be both, depending on the events that do happen

I have been watching this up and coming weekend low system and as we creep closer the models seem to plot something of interest stormwise perhaps.
Temperatures will again flare up in the east in the next few days with the NW kicking in.
Cheers
Jason.

yes, looking like a very strong system will cross the country over the weekend. Ignoring the usual West Coast activity there should be a thunderstorm/hail risk over Southland /Otago Saturday, more thunderstorms/hail over Otago and Canterbury Sunday. Also on Sunday North Island from Waikato south should catch some thunder/hail.
