Yes stations have risen in the last ten minutes, whether it lasts though i dont know. Burwood now over 33, rolleston 34 (feels like temp = 38), hoonhay 34, fendalton 33. Official temperature at airport from Metservice is 34 degrees now.

Yeah i live just down the road from it and the reason for that is the thin high cloud isnt dominating the sun as much now. The record for that station is 37.2 degrees i believe. Wonder if thats going to be under threat. 36.2 in lyttelton!

Nah, up at 10 cause I've had a minor case of the flu or a cold. I woke up at 35 degrees and it was a month ago. Definitely feel the heat when you step outside but its definitely bearable

Yeah, wonder if it will get to a stage where it is unbearable. 37 in Lyttelton now and 36 in Rolleston. Long as the thin high cloud stays away. WE have 2 of the 3 ingredients for 40 degrees, The NW Breeze , warm upper air from the morning heating and now we just need clear skies.

Seems as though Rangiora peaked at 36 earlier this morning. I got to 31 here and now dropped back a degree or so, looks to be similar in Waipara and further north, the NW is quite strong and gusty now, so thats probably it for the maximums today I would think.

High cloud now thickening, no doubt as the wind change approaches. As at 12pm it was yet to arrive in Ashvegas but well established in Timaru since mid morning

Maybe the southerly is coming earlier than predicted as Ashburton weather station shows a 10 degree drop with the change.

Temp halved between 5-6am from 27C to 13C here in Dunedin, so boring. It's just hovered around 13-14 all day now. Fog lifted and now just grey. Not a single breath of wind, in that respect lovely

It will be fascinating to watch the temperature drop as the Southerly hits Christchurch.

not too sure because the one in waiora up your way said 40.7 couple weeks ago. There is one near a suburb of mine that said 34 which is accurate though compared to other stations so im standing on the fence. Personally i think there are better stations but thats not to say wunderground weather stations are no good

its not the station itself that is the problem but the positioning/mounting/location of the temperature sensor (some temperature sensor enclosures are not as good as others)

Couldnt agree more...ive just re-positioned my sensors again, they are reading more accurately now as a result.

Wunderground is only a hosting site...not a station as such. I utilise Wunderground and like there offering particularly given that you can at a glance see several stations in one locality on there map. Its also free..

Its a weather watchers dream today in ChCh, temps peaked in the mid 30's now we have mammatus overshead as the southerly becomes established under a high NW arch cloud
