Try reading the comments attached to this Stuff story about the heavy rain today - fascinating, especially the people who believe the fires in Australia have altered the weather patterns over New Zealand.

Sometimes its quite illuminating to try to understand how Joe Public think about weather and forecasting.

Well, they laugh at some of the forecasts we come up with, so I guess thats only fair... :lol: :lol:

But hang on.... Our "reliable" Met Service said Wellington was in for "a long, hot, dry, windless summer"... Our Met Service should be on a Tui Billboard!

I don't even think NIWA said "a long, hot, dry, windless summer"; though it's possible the media at some point could have come up with that.

I posted a reply to that garbage post about an alleged MetService prediction. It's scary to reflect on the levels of understanding and intelligence shown in these feedback threads!
