Down to 15C for Auckland, currently 19C, cloudy. The dewpoint temp has fallen to 9C helping give the day a cool feel.

Trouble down south from what i have heard on the radio, 130kmh SW winds causing problems in the last few hours.
First thunderstorm is now evident in the usual spot north of Dunedin and close to Palmerston.
21C here now with a breezy NW wind not strong and gusty yet like i thought it would be.
Wind warnings out for tonight and a road snowfall warning of 1cm for Lindiss Pass  .
Cheers

Wow what a crop of thunderstorms on the 4pm radar to the south, must be one a little closer offshore from Rakia as well.
Something is building over BP as well as usual, westerly becoming very strong and gusty now.
Cheers

Things starting to build down south, for sure...there seems to be more of a Southerly component to the system, looking at the radar loops? Anyone else notice this? (less SW'er)...WHICH, btw, I love how M/S has made them available right on the hour, instead of having to wait 10-15 mins...yay! =D>

Southerly has just hit central Chch - just as strong as the strong west/northwesterly it replaced. No rain, thunder or hail (yet), but a blizzard of leaves sweeping horizontally through the streets.

Southerly came through here around 5:40pm nice defined line of the W vs SW affect, some strong gusts to 50kmh still dry though.
Pitty most of the thunderstorm activity has died out now, although still some heavy showers on the latest radar.
Batten down tonight and bring in anything that might blow away, and definatly dont walk through Hagley Park with branches flying everywhere.
Cheers

I thought the same thing melja that NW was way to strong and unfortunately it dried out the air.
Had that typical looking NW come SW look actually, that really dry look.. i haven't seen that in a wee while.. not that we want to see it! :x
Ah well the S is calming down now and id say just a few showers tonight, with bit hail perhaps.
Wont be warm though tomorrow, thats fo sure folks

Hows that for a wee shiver down ya sphine :D rumble of thunder just heard from a cell developing sort of overhead.
Sporadic rain drops with tiny bit of hail too, starting to look abit more unstable now and the clouds have a real height to them if you look up.
