Re: Sub-T. Low affecting NE of North Island May 2-3
Cold and wet for Auckland this morning, 9.6°C here with about 15mm since it started last night.
Next Fri/Sat is something to watch in the models...low pressures, very low 500hpa temps and low LI's....

Yes, steady rain since 9pm here - 16mm so far. The front from this low seems to have honed-in on the Auckland region - 10mm at Grey Lynn since 10pm and on the Coromandel, 40mm at 'Castle Rock' from 8pm to 3am (no reading from the Pinnacles since Mar 18?).

Yes, the local market, most of which is outside, is a big thing here on Saturday mornings - lost count of the amount of times it gets washed-out.Vertigo wrote:waiheke must be fairly wet!

Today was Aucklands coldest day in 8.5 months. We need to go back to August 17th for the last time a daytime max of just 12C was recorded.

Reached only 11.2° here (would be considered cold for a winter's day!), and a total of 23mm since it began raining last night. Nice sunset too, here's a photo

Clear skies and a low of 8.0°C here at 7:15am, after a total of 26mm.Last night Vertigo wrote:brrr, very cold outside tonight, with overnight low of 6C to look forward to!
I see there were 2 separate boating fatalities on Saturday. The trimaran that ran aground off Taranga Island near Whangarei seems to have been a tragic accident. However, the 2 fisherman in the capsized dinghy near Maraetai in the E Akld region appears to have been the result shear stupidity...
