Looks like the low may have deepended a little out to the east with the new development occuring. Up to 24mm so far now. Heavy showers still falling, radar shows a larger one about to hit in the next few mins. Sleet very obvious

We have had a great mix of weather DB area today... sunshine, blue sky, rainbows, huge chunky CB's, breezy cool winds but no thunder or lightning surprising enough in that... anyway, its a clear night here with a full moon and stars...

Took this today looking southwest over Mangonui at approx 15:00hrs, take care.

Awsome line of dots down the west coast of the country on the correlated lighting detectors.
Heaps of activity showing on both sides of Auckland and Tauranga.

Hailed a few times today, but now constant drizzle.

No thunder here yet, but experience tells me not to expect in untill around 2 or 3am here... just the way its always been.

Need a new tripod so I can try my hand a capturing photos of lighting.

Still lots of sleet and grapel showers here.. grapel " in between hail and snow" covering the path again, but melting fairly quickly after.
Yes its a good wee blast for may not even winter yet. we would have a good dusting tonight if it was middle winter for sure.

just been up on the roof watching under the stars and full moon. awesome atmosphere to watch lightning and hear thunder. There were way more strikes to me NNW than there were to my W. The W were close and could hear thunder from but the NNW ones were on the horizon (possibly more like auckland). Bring it on!

I have looked at the horizons and can't see a single lightning flash anywhere...hopefully the beefier stuff moves in early morning as the line currently coming across Auckland seems pretty weak.

Yes, the Manukau storm has ceased by the looks David. Looks to have been a small frontal line judging by radar/satellite.

Had some great views of the lightning show tonight, to the south of us. Very bright flashes which illuminated the whole sky, but counting-the-seconds revealed that the action was further away than it seemed. Hail on and off for the last hour.

Wasn't that a sad excuse for a polar blast?
If this is a sign of things to come winter this year should be good and snow-less!

Hey you guys up in Christchurch keep the cloud and stuff up there. The sky down here is clear and all we need now is that hot dry nor wester to start blowing for every one to have a great winter! Come on hot dry nor wester - get blowing!!! :B

You guys have a good night, I'm going to bed now.

I was not at home, but the wife said at 9;30pm we had lightning close as every 30 seconds, huge claps of thunder, the power went out, and then hail!
