Lower North Island t-storms 6/5
This forum really suffers from a lack of lower north island correspondants at times.
Sounds like some great action weather around Wellington this morning- if that had been in ChCh or Auckalnd we've have a thread 3 pages long by now!

Frankly I don't think it was a big deal. I heard a couple of claps of thunder, little precip. until an hour or so later when some southerly rain arrived. Raining on and off since then (mainly on) but not very windy at all.

I have several times in the past made some private PM suggestions to moderators about improvements that night lead to a broader member base...Razor wrote:This forum really suffers from a lack of lower north island correspondants at times.

It looks as if the action was in the south. I can't remember the last time it was really close to here, at least in daylight hours.

We heard a couple of claps of thunder around 7:00am in Palmy, but that was about it too.

Us lower North Island people have to work now and then unlike it seems others on this forum .!! lol . Posts are put up when time permits.!!! The thunderstorms were quite spectacular this am ..and quiet unusual for this part of the world. Now we just have a cold southwesterly with showers. No sign of any further t/s's. Lower Hutt weather station recorded over 60 lightning discharges first thing today.

Wellington area looking like it is getting a hammering right about now, based on radar? Anyone care to report? Lee-trough from the low that passed by this morning?...good 'ole 1-2 punch, as it were.

Re: Lower North Island t-storms 6/5
We also had observed some good lightning this morning which was successfully recorded by my 1-wire detector (always pleasing to test it in a real event)....
Apart from that - some moderate rain here in Upper Hutt (Pinehaven), a light SE (we are sheltered from the southerly in the valley) and a cool 7.4 C.
Nothing too unusual really - except for the morning T/S. I think some people get a touch over excited on the forum - us Wellingtonians are a little more circumspect

Asd I said earlier, there was little action in the western flank of the city. Just a miserable day to follow.
