Tonight's stuff looks to be from a warm front - Hillmorton station went up a little from 3.6C to 4C.

I see tomorrow 69cm of snow expected at Mt Hutt and 34 on Sunday so another metre forecast to fall! Had cold rain on and off this morning with 10.4mm of rain so far today.

Radar shows a big blob over Pirongia area now, and it's freezing - what chance of some snow settling up there?

Its a luvly day here! Nice and warm and sunny all day. There is one band of cloud up very high like a narrow strip that is heading from the south sou east to the north nor west like a convayor belt! its moving very fast and its really interesting to watch it.

A few thunderstorms have been affecting western and northern Waikato over the last couple of hours. The thunderstorm risk for Auckland has now been upgraded to moderate (timing would be late this afternoon and early evening).

The rain keeps a tumbling down well actually its stopped for now but it was coming down nicly this morning, steady at times with a little hint of sleet.
Now its more just spotty stuff because the wind is so strong and gusty its blowing the showers through too quickly.
Once again some real punch in some of those gusts which must be around 50-60km/h at times.

Haha just seen this on weatherwatch's site.
"Motorists driving on State Highway 2 over the Rimutaka Ranges may also face hazardous conditions with gusts as high as 13km/h".

A wee error perhaps  , sorry just had to add that.

Couldn't resist this one either...
Mr Duncan also says Cook Strait ferries may face delays or even cancellations with rough seas developing. "Swells as high as traffic lights, around 5 metres, will plough through Cook Strait along with severe gales averaging 120km/h".

'...averaging 120km/h' ? That ain't severe-gales - that's Hurricane-force!
Perhaps Phil means 'severe gales with gusts averaging 120km/h' ?

Black clouds coming in from the west, no rain yet, it's been another sunny, warm day here in this part of the country.

Honestly, it's been one of those days Nev! Meant to say severe gales with gusts to 120km/h!

You want to see the Weatherzone forums Glenn 30-50pages long sometimes, although they do have alot more people registerd and higher population majority interested in weather.
Heavy rain and strong wind warnings are out for Canterbury to the lower north island for tomorrow, Canterbury is going to be rather sodden after this.
