Re: General June Weather
A bit of frost on the grass here in Grey Lynn this morning, looks like David's, more than I've seen for a couple of years at least! IR thermometer says the grass temp is -5.0C Air temp dropped to 1.8C
The roof is white with ice as are the cars and some standing water in the gutters had a sheet of ice on it

Re: General June Weather
Likewise in Paerata this morning, heaviest ground frost yet. Cars completely iced over, roof of the house is white, all the cattle paddocks look like it has snowed on it being so white from frost.. even the front lawn didnt escape with the grass crunching under my feet.
Last time I heard that sound was when I lived back in aussie and that was caused by drought!

Re: General June Weather
Thats a bit farfetched! Unless it happens of course.
They say Taupo is going to get a whopping -6°C!

Re: General June Weather
showing the snow symbol again it must just be the ice in the bucket melting.
i see MS have quickly changed all their minimums for tonight.
Yea Tim thats what i thought too (changes automatically WHEN it finally surpasses the top/bottom number) but you dont have the dew point doing strange things on the graph like like mine.

Re: General June Weather
I am thinking the same thing Tim, it has dropped 4.4°C here in the last 1 hour, now sitting on 6.5°C already, and it is completely calm out there already.

Re: General June Weather
Temperature has "flat-lined" here for the last 2 hours, and as a result it is actually warmer at this time tonight than last night

Re: General June Weather
It seems quite funny how the stronger frosts are in the North Island and not the south, even places like the Nelson Lakes getting down to -7C.
Yet we only got down to -1C last night, but the days are wonderful with the low winter sun this evening making it look more like a fire ball through the trees.
Ive noticed the past few mornings until about 1pm atleast there is a Westerly breeze here before turning NE in the afternoon, would there be an explanation as to why this might be?.
I did wonder if it might be because of the snow on the Alps creating a land breeze.

Re: General June Weather
you will get a landbreeze (from land to water)until the land warms up , then you get a sea breeze (when the land is warmer than the water)
