We are getting those too, occasional gusts up to 5km/h. Needs to calm down completely for a good frost...as with each air movement the temperature seems to bounce up a tiny bit. Down to 3.2° here a short while ago.

MetService have Waiouru as the coldest place in NZ atm on -5°C (rounded), while the outer Hauraki Gulf is on a balmy 11°C, and both Cape Reinga and Farewell Spit on 10°C.

1.3°C here at 6am but it's gone up to 2.0°C now - weird.

Coldest morning here by far with a crunchy white frost. Down to -1.0°C this morning and has been 1° or lower for nearly 7 hours (hence a good frost).

Not quite as cold air temps here in Grey Lynn this morning just made it down to 2.5C.. some light puffs of wind all night have moved some of the warmer city air this way I think.. But the ground frost is slightly heavier and the standing gutter water at least as frozen

I see Weatherwatch has -2°C for Auckland. Presumably that was taken at Whenuapai.
MetService had Waiouru down to at least -6°C since my last post, but up again now.

I notice metservice are forecasting 2° again tonight. Temperature is plummeting here still 25 minutes to sunset and already 9.5° out there, will be interesting if it remains clear and calm all night...

Things happen in 3's so it will be the 3rd major frost in a row for this immediate area.. condensation on everything already, temps on par with last night, slight breeze about an hour ago which has now died off..

Another frozen start on the cards.

the cold nights mean the 24 hour average temperature is currently 5C colder than normal (since 2001) for this time of year (usually dont get frosty weather as cold as like this until july/august (june is normaly a windy unsettled month))

Why isn't the temperature dropping that much in the Waikato tonight? Apparently only 0.2°C colder at Horshamdowns than it is here

I think it might be fog... no wind that I can see.

Frosts already in sheltered parts of Auckland...possibly Northland too.

Another frosty start but not as cold as yesterday morning, low here today is -0.3°C. Still, that's 3 frosts in a row and it's only early June!

Frosty start again down this neck of the woods though not as severe as yesterday but not very far from it!
Slight bit of wind from the south making things marginally cooler due wind chill.
