Yes I was watching closely :) only made it to 1.3C. my record low of 0.7C was recorded last August, Still not bad this close to the central city.. Very solid coating of ice on the cars again this morning!

Horshamdowns just missed out on 3 nights in a row of -4 and below. Last nights low was -3.9. But even that is very cold.

Last 4 nights: -3, -4.1, -4.4, -3.9

There is some spectacular fog about Auckland this morning

Is it near uni? I might see it if it is, I should arrive there around 9.40am. It's very clear here...

Just back from dropping my eldest off at school down by Pukekohe Raceway.. along Station Rd opposite the trotting tracks the display in the car was showing a solid -3º & dipped to -4 at one point, with the heaviest ground frost of all of the last 3 days just in that particular are.. yesterday the sensor was only showing +1º & the day previous a flat zero..

Ed: Heh Brian.. we could talk about the lovely sunny days instead?

just went for a drive around
very white frost, best of the 3 in that regard
best looking frost since the early 90's I reckon :)
some fog around
the cold air moving out over the tasman out of the valley made some nice looking sea fog
tried to take a photo but the cold made the camera complain of flat battery :(

Very good frost in Henderson this morning, totally white underfoot :) These recent frosts have been the first good frosts in a couple of years for me.

On the way to uni this morning - sunshine at home but the bus drove into fog/low cloud near the west end of Pakuranga and through Panmure, however it cleared through Ellerslie and from there to the city we were back into sunshine

remaining quite cool here today.... as it has clouded over....
Totally agree with you Brian about the frosts not coming in for a while as a significant amount of cloud is coming over....

Yes a very coastal polar blast for tomorrow with a brief belt of showers spreading inland perhaps.
Todays change has been and gone, a few CU clouds swirled on through with a brief windshift though only breezy to the SE.
Still remains sunny with not much on the rain radar, and back to very light winds again.
Another frost this morning which happened to be our strongest in the last 2-3 days, of -3.2C.

Frost becoming patchy here this morning with next to nothing at sun-up with the air temperature just above zero.
Down the road at Templeton it was quite white. Parts of Halwell were white and some were not as well.
With continuous clear skies, you would think that the frosting would be general all over the place?

Interesting John.

I am 5 km to the west of West Melton and had 8 degrees at 5am with a light nor'wester but down to 3 by 7am with very little breeze.

Nev, Can you remove the time slot on this thread please.
Tonight I predict will be cold as the DPs are really low around 2°C.
Clear conditions, and the wind has dropped.
Why have metservice got the low at 6°C for Hamilton, seems to high unless cloud rolls over.

No surprises there, has been commonplace the last week or so.
"Oh dear, it really is almost zero outside, better change the minima on the site before ordinary people wake up and think we stuffed up again..........."

In saying, dont believe it will be anything as serious as last week up this neck of the woods but it is awful cool out already so vehicle ice is a distinct possibility. At least for this district.

Ed: Missus is on her way back from Waiuku & says the sensor on my car is reading sub 5's
Possibly shes in the lower parts as im sitting about 6.8º at present

I don't think there's a chance at all here - still 10°C outside.

Relatively warm here this morn on 7.1°C (8°C now) with a light E'ly breeze.

Strong winds out in the Gulf though and it's currently blowing 70km/h up at Cape Reinga.

Taupo was on -5°C.
