Tell me about it...was crazy enough to go out golfing in it! VERY frosty on the course...and has taken quite a while to "warm up" to what it is now.

Safe prediction (after looking at anomaly maps in Climate Explorer): this is the coldest NZ June since 1972, intervening months not even close.

Unexpectedly cool here this morning...low was 1.7°C and just cold enough for roofs to get a faint white coating and the car too, but not cold enough for any grass frost at all.

Yes, 1.7°C here also just before 8am with a very light frost (3.0°C now).
I see Queenstown was around -5°C again this morn. They were on -5.6 yesterday and Ranfurly on -7.3, with similar temps in Clyde, Alexandra and Middlemarch.

First very cold morning here for a couple of weeks with light frost, hopefully the high cloud sheet to our north wont spoil the day too much, clear skies here currently.

Re: Report your Frost, or (how low did you go 2009)
Ok not sure what to think of the pool being frozen over this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is the first time anyone in the family has EVER seen this happen and the pool has been in for 10 YEARS. But there are some things that may have caused this. 1- the filter has been turned off i think. 2- it may have happened before but no one ever seen it. But i looked at it on the -5 mornings we had and it was far from frozen and the filter wasn't running then.
So i can really only put it down to the fact that the water has gradually got colder and colder and with the -2.8 this morning it finally was able to freeze over. I took some pictures. The fly spray sitting on top of the water is full and weighs about 1kg. The Water it still frozen now But these photos were taken at about 8.30.
Was at Ruapehu yesterday and it had the best snow i have ever had there. only 1.4m base but the snow was ALL powder. Could not even make a snowball with it, it was that dry. Clear blue skies and now wind really

Does anyone know if the string of highs in Alexandra (between 0 and 2) are some sort of record? I know it's normal to only reach that high but i wouldn't have thought for so many days in a row.
I dont have any stats on Alex.

I don't have stats either Philip, would be an interesting town to have weather records for. But freezing fogs hanging around for days does happen in the odd winter down there.Does anyone know if the string of highs in Alexandra (between 0 and 2) are some sort of record? Re: Report your Frost, or (how low did you go 2009)
I reckon RWood would be the man to find this sort of information.
It doesn't seem all that unusual though. I reckon in 2007 it would have been bettered.
Low cloud or fog is so common in Central Otago in winter that this stretch of low daytime highs surely can't have been a record.
It's interesting that many parts of the UK this last winter saw many ice days in a row, and that was with frequently clear skies and sunshine.
