Report your Frost, or (how low did you go 2009)
Seeing it really seems like winter is with us, I thought it is as good as time as any to start reporting how low the temperature gets and any nice frosty pictures from around New Zealand we may want to share.

Nothing special about this frost. bottomed out at -3.8 here. Tomorrow should be colder and for much longer. ie the temp will dip below 0 very early i think, compared to last night. So should be a cracker frost.

Looks like the cloud and showers expected to move in sometime overnight will ruin the chance of a frost here

Bugger all of a frost here this morning, the thermometer only dipped down to minus 0.5c in the screen overnight.
Interesting, considering all the snow activity over BP and further down south which should of brought lower temperatures with the clear skies. Must of been some warming?

1.9C down here atm in my area of Christchurch.
Id say it will go down to around -2 or -3 tonight, she'll be down to about -2 by midnight so going to be a bloody cold one in the morning..

Looks like the low for night here has already passed, lol
Got down to 3.3°C here at 7:36pm - very cold for that time of evening. Rose a little bit after that and constant 4° now - clouds and a few showers must be about to move in soon...

Probably no frost but these were taken a few hours ago on top of the Otago Peninsula.

Re: Report your Frost, or (how low did you go 2009)
Looked like there was a warm sector, weak though, passing over the south today according to synoptic charts. Anyway, 0.5c in the screen would typically imply a ground frost?NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:Bugger all of a frost here this morning, the thermometer only dipped down to minus 0.5c in the screen overnight.
