well what a cold start it was this morning down here today.. brr -4 and my car had about cm of ice on the roof!! was freezing.
Probably the biggest frost we have had all winter in Christchurch.
Will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow with this short sharp cold snap.

cheers

Odd.. Waiheke & Howick got iced up cars, yet nothing down this end of town bar cold feet on the lawn.
Makes a change :)

Yes, does sound odd, but other far E'ern sites like Eastern Beach and Botany Downs showed similar temps - probably much lighter winds / more sheltered.

1.2°C here at 7:30am this morn.

I see Grey Lynn got to 1.6°C (yesterday 3.3°C) and Whenuapai at least -1°C

I noticed clouds came over late last night. Already under 3° at 10pm but the low was 0.6°, just a slight patchy frost

Yes Richard but as you will know rangiora can be a very frosty place _b and i find the winter min's to be about 2 deg colder than chch but on the other hand the highs in summer are about 2deg warmer, it tends to also get alot more NW winds blowing when chch or even kaiapoi doesnt- but bugger all storms is a down side q-

Only got down to about 3°C in Tauranga overnight, but that's cold enough for me.

Some interesting 'official' temps from Greater Akld this morn:

Ak Aero only got down 3.4°C, while Mangere managed 1.9°C, Whenuapai Aero -1.6°C, Kumeu -2.7°C, Warkworth -0.5°C and Pukekohe 0.7°C.

Btw, don't have Pakuranga yet, but yesterday morn it was down to 0.1°C

Edited Mangere error (:

It was just some light SSE breeze here in Grey Lynn between 2 and 6am that halted the rapid fall in temperature. Low here was 1.6°C so I imagine we would've easily reached 0 without that. Interesting to see the decent -ve temps there!
