Re: Wild End to June with an Easterly Low [North Island]
Currently 17.2 °C out - max 18.3 °C today - the rains finally arrived today in Kaitaia at 11.30am today - did a west ( Kaitaia ) and eastcoast (Kaeo ) drive see what was happening out there.
These photographs were taken between 12.50 - 13:00 hrs today 5 mins out of Kaeo travelling north back towards Totara North. The travelling has knocked me out and I am tired to type more and give descriptions ( sorry ) - however, I do trust the images will be able to convey and do that what I cannot do just for today. and, show brief snapshots of our country as seen through my eyes today, stay safe out there... take care.

Re: Wild End to June with an Easterly Low [North Island]
Sure looks soggy up north. Currently 15.3C here with mist, just about fog.
Ricky, your weather station says the current dewpoint is 11.8C which is incorrect. Should read about 15C.

Re: Wild End to June with an Easterly Low [North Island]
Signifcant huge rain band in the middle north island now and its very stationery. Intensity growing and looks as if heavier more persistent rain around the Auckland area now? I think the next 24-36 hours will see very significant totals in central and western north island areas. A few light showers about here in Christchurch now but not enough to be recorded from local weather stations.

Pressure here is dropping quite a bit from 1015.4 @ 2100 last night to 992.0 now - no real rain as yet but is picking up....
Will be interesting to see what the morning will be like.

Yes the humidity sensor has been failing over the last few weeks and has about an 80% ceiling now, just in the process of obtaining the more accurate SHT replacement..NZstorm wrote: Ricky, your weather station says the current dewpoint is 11.8C which is incorrect. Should read about 15C.

Yes, thunderstorm over Auckland. About 3 seconds between the last CG/thunder! Looking at the gfs today I thought 11pm for a pos storm over AK.

Re: Wild End to June with an Easterly Low [North Island]
Well done Steven! Good guessing.
And TGsnoopy you had that damn hail storm...in fact you had two, the one that went over the kaimais then the big one in May. You've had more than your fair share!!
Time for Auckland to FINALLY get some interesting weather!
I'd say 80% is fork lightning.... my view isn't great but most seems to be C to C.
Good luck with the photo spwill - i'm sure it'll be gold when you get it!

I've been trying to get a photo too but cloud base is low/vis poor in the rain. Interesting the way the line blew up along the cold front. Just had 2 seconds between flash/thunder!
