Hmm.. actually I think the tide might be marginally higher in 4 weeks time, depending on where you are - not much in it though and we do have an accompanying storm-surge this time.

caught a 49 knot gust at bean rock on the now casting just before

wind has eased alot here now after a narrow pre main rain band squall line went through
and the barometer has stopped dropping
so its all over now re the wind, just the rain now
(and I have some false rain tips due to the station shaking so much in the wind!)

 >_< grrr things seem to not work when they are needed. Cant sort out over the phone what is wrong with the updating. At least its the data is getting to the computer so i can look at it in the future. But now would be good lol. Heading to the mountain for the weekend so will give it quick look at nice and early tomorrow.

As for the wind here it was wild not long ago and sounded very strong. But now its actually rather calm.

looks like a good rain band to come in the next half hour for northland down to taupo, probably with some good wind gusts too.

Not quite sure whats happened on the latest radar, all of a sudden rain is building inland of Mid- South Canterbury.
No southerly either yet.

There will be little if anything for Canty out of this lot. Not holding breath al all, I see Metservice scaled the forecast tonight back too, and raised the snow level to 500m

Around 10pm we got some quite heavy rain for around 30 minutes, I was expecting rain tonight just not as heavy as it was. Also had some good wind to accompany it.

Blustery Southerly out there but dry and looks like will stay that way with some brief showers or rain as looks more an inland event and North Canterbury event. Should have started raining here couple of hours ago but hasn't. The dry July for CHCH rolls on....

Yes there was some quite heavy rain on the roof at one stage which woke me up, but only about 5mm in the guage.
Just had a wee sprinkle of rain just now, looks like some hail to the west of here quite shafty looking as it went through.
Icy showers pounding Banks Peninnsula at the moment, some of these might move through the city as has just done but should be all cleared up by this evening.

Got some Nice Cumulus Kelvin-Helmholtz today.
Seems like the higher speed winds that were traveling opposite direction were lower than usual today.
