Thunderstorms 1/8/09 NI
Has anyone seen the front on the radar coming at the west coast. Very sharp . Metservice outlook looks good today too. Hopefully it can hold itself together and become a bit more active as it crosses. Should be an exciting weather day none the less.

Re: Thunderstorms 1/8/09 NI
I would add the 2nd on the title as well.
The chance of a thunderstorm for Auckland looks like coming through early evening. There was a burst of lightning activity over Taranaki/Waitomo this morning but has quietened down now. I've got 16C here now with the sun popping through.
Quite a strong system crosses the country tomorrow with a thunder/hail risk from Southland up the West Coast and getting onto the west of the North Island by evening, though Taranaki looks to be the most likely spot as far as the NI goes.

A mild morning, 16C , dewpoint 12C, fresh westerly, quite a lot of cloud cover, Cb line should come into view in the west shortly.

went up Mt Eden but was a bit of a fizzer to look at. Just had some torrential rain for a short period a few mins ago. Some really good gusts in it too.

I see MetService are slow at updating their weather charts, etc. on their website.
Interesting to see what Karen has to report on the weather segment of the news just before 7pm ??

I thought yesterday we had the best low level moisture/convergence come through (midday) too far in advance of the upper level trough (evening) hence a bust day.
