Just had a very heavy downpour that was very isolated according to the rain radar.
around 6.0mm in around 15 min!
The baro has dropped around 12hPa today.
UPDATE:
Have a look at the low on the SAT map, a very nice curl or hook feature on it.

=D> My thoughts exactly! Maximum Gust 40km/h today and only to 25km/h now. Earlier this week had gusts to 60-65km/h.

The wind isnt meant to pick up until tonight, the fronts are still stacking in the Tasman so a proper squash zone hasnt really occured yet.
Lots of interesting cloud forms out there though, mamatus etc.

Hardly a breathe of wind out there over the last hour. Very slight breeze gusting 15km/h max. Yes, slight sign of the Auckland rain band loosing a little intensity on the outer fringes but hopefully it holds strong. Its been an anticlimax for the south. No rain hardly in westport Im told.

WESTLAND NORTH OF OTIRA, BULLER AND NORTHWEST NELSON
In the 9 to 12 hours from 5pm expect 100 to 150mm of rain near the
ranges and 60 to 90mm at lower levels. Rainfall peaking at 15 to 25mm
per hour near the ranges in thunderstorms this evening.

- so it's barely got started in Westport.

it will be only the warm front, that rain band moving in the NW on the auckland radar

the cold front will be following that...with the stronger winds ...

The models show the worst of it in the north island tonight and this afternoon in the south. Has purple (43mm +)for the forecast map along the westcoast south island earlier and now its past to the forecast yellow....(20 odd)

Lets see then as i think its a fizzzzzer for the south island apart from the alps, take a look at the M/S own stations today and you can see that it was not a particularly windy day for most and bugger all rain on the coast but the alps have been getting a bit in the last few hours with arthurs pass getting up to 25mm/h, but this storm is nothing to the fronts and lows of last week- boring in fact.

NE much for the day here with heavy cloud from late morning but rainy looking along the Alps for much of the afternoon. Finening up now. Some sfericals developing and I just saw a flash to the west, whilst typing.

Fair enough, I've had no time to look at models recently so just going on what the warning predicts.

We are getting it here in inner Pelorus Sound - 74mm thus far and strong N - NW
I predicted we could get 150mm - looking at the radar could be on track for it

I am picking the winds may get up before the rain arrives or as its eventuating, main cold front still moving up the South Island.
I am surprised to see the warm front crossed us without bringing any rain to us, although i did notice and precisly to count 7 rain drops on the deck at around 4pm  .

31Hpa is impressive. I see Milford bottomed out at 979 today for a few hours and Puysegur Point dipped to 973. For a few hours today there was a 5Hpa difference between Manapouri and Milford, fair old gradient for such a short distance.
