Re: General September Weather
Yes, I think the 'general W'erly flow' over the last couple of weeks might be at an end now.
Down to 7.2°C here around 1am before the SSW breeze kept temps from falling further ... 8-9°C now
(a little winder and much warmer at Akld Aero though).

Re: General September Weather
Hopefully the Low is far enough away to the east on Saturday to give Auckland a fine day in the SE flow otherwise plenty of fine weather over the weekend and early next week. Could have a cool cloudy NE flow here by Wendsday.

Re: General September Weather
I find it hard to believe the temperature will drop to 4C overnight in Auckland. Definitely a cooler day though with 15C.

Shows some thunderstorm development east of the BOP tonight with the cooling upper level tempertures over warm sea.

I see dewpoints at Wellington are only 2C so some very dry air is on the way but it looks like some cloud cover will move in.I find it hard to believe the temperature will drop to 4C overnight in Auckland.
Re: General September Weather
It would seem the cold change hasn't gone through Auckland yet. The MS charts seem to suggest that there is a southeast push that is separate to the cold front, so maybe the real cold dry air never makes it to Auckland?

Re: General September Weather
Knew it would get cold here with the drier air mass overnight - but didn't think this cold!!
Dipped to 1.2°C at 6:29am giving a very light frost coat in open patches of grass and on cars/roofs
Really surprised to see a little ice again, thought it was long gone

Yes, it has been a rather sunny, cloudless WE, well September so far.
Some high clouds on the horizon to the west today though

Re: General September Weather
From -2.8ºC overnight here in Sth Waikato to 19.4ºC this afternoon (22.2ºC range) before a sudden SE breeze set in, dropping it like a stone from 3pm when it was still climbing... Lovely day though!

Re: General September Weather
Im down in the BOP all week for a field trip. Staying in Ohiwa and it looks like we will be having some very nice weather. Yet another picture perfect day.
Re: General September Weather
Just got back from 3 days in Auckland and it has to be the first time I've been there and actually missed seeing clouds! It felt more like Perth during a dry spell in winter with the blue dome skies and light wind conditions! Is that the first time Auckland has had a whole weekend with practically no clouds?David wrote:...Haven't seen a cloud all weekend!

Re: General September Weather
Yes another wall to wall blue sky day.16-17c.N.Z Herald says grass minima -3.Dont believe it got that cold as it was colder and frostier than that over the June/July period. Was a slight frost on sunday morning though at 2 in the morning it was showing as a heavy dew.
Easter 1992 was bluedome in Auckland for 4 days.We get weekends in march or april like this or occasionally in winter.
