Upper NI Low 12-14 Sept

Metservice shows a low with heavy rain in the upper NI for this period,heres Saturday though its quite shallow.

I think of more interest is the tremendous warmth that may affect the east of the South Island next Monday. Let's see how it pans out though!

My forecast is suggesting the Low will only get down to around to 1019 hPa, not much of a low, LOL
But the precip amounts are looking good :smile:

We had 1mm yesterday and another overnight so nothing like they suggested.Its furthur north than anticipated.

Looks like the GFS got it wrong this time (regarding precipitation amounts)!

ECMWF seem to have had it right(on the 9th),ie today it has yellow across much of the NI and a light green spot to the west with tomorrow the low well to the north.

what we often miss in a northerly /NE flow in the auckland area is a trigger to cool the atmosphere to release the moisture.....(i.e no big enough ranges (waitaks will be getting more rain though than the city) or up slope rising ground or cold water temperatures or often there is missing falling pressures in the area (sometimes happens though!)
