Copped it here as well Brian.. fine layer of dust on the vehicles this morning, enough to turn to slush when the windscreen wipers went on.

Bloody aussies ;)
Just got both cars washed and detailed yesterday.

It seems its one of those occurrences where everywhere bit the city is getting steady light rain. It had stopped completely here for the last hour to hour and a half. The easterly is very gusty though. 8mm today and 13mm from all so far.

Yes it shows on the radar. It looks like its picking up in intensity out your way to with some blue starting to develop. Very dull here but still no precipitation at the moment.

Hi Brian

Another pic... a close-up really with abit more detail... my 13 year old daughter took a look @ this pic and said to me... please mum dont upload that photo on the weather forum!!! its only orange sand... (chuckle).... anyway...

Much as I would have dearly liked to have caught a spectacular sunrise this morning from the duststorm... hopefully, weather permitting (the day is not quite yet over) I may yet get to see and hopefully photograph a sunset perhaps... though, nothing as spectacular and or stunning like the recent Australian duststorm images - images of Ayer's Rock keep springing to mind...

Currently 18.1 C out... with strong gusty winds.. a rain band coming through bay area now... take care.

Speaking to a few mates back in aussie, their wx stations have either collapsed completely (ie broke) with the amount of dust.. affecting wet bulbs, stevenson screens, anemometers glugged up etc..

Practically every single AWS & home based ones along the east coast will need a strip down and clean because of the storm, to make things worse, another front is rearing its ugly head and going to dump even more topsoil up and down the place.. though no as dramatic as the last couple of days.

Hi Brian  I had a good look at the dust on your roof and it sure is the same colour as the dust I took a pic of on a friends car windscreen this morning.

My initial thought was that it was rust from the wiper blade, however, that thought quickly changed as I observed and noted the texture of it being fine and silt like... I appreciate Dale's post _b and understand just how this dust can get into everything and ruin things, and affect health also... unbelieveable... nature at its worst.

Well I did manage to photograph an orange hued dust sunset of sorts, but, it is no spectacular stunner... and I have photographed better in past... so, here we go with a few sunset pics... and weather today here in the far north - take care.

DT-NZ - I meant to thank you today for your great pics - we really appreciated you sending them in. I was in meetings most of today (one of 'those' days) but I saw your pic was used in a story this afternoon.

sadly more cloud on the way tomorrow BUT if you're up around 5:30am/6am you may get a GREAT red sunrise. Not me though...I've had a long week and a few glasses of wine and a sleep in will do me a treat!

If we manage to get some decent daytime heating this morning then some of the showers could turn thundery with hail as the low crosses. Looking grey and wet currently with heavy showers.

Edit I think it'll be Tauranga that catches the thunderstorm today.

Sweet, now all I need is my new memory cards to arrive.

I bought a Canon SX1IS but it needs class 6 SD cards, I have 4 arriving any day now... Looking forward to trying out it's 1080p HD video recording function, it can do so at up to 40x optical zoom.

Also bought myself a little notebook, but it's still about a week away now.

Presently have over a $3,000.00 bill on my Telecom account, hoping they'll soon sort their mistake out, but a good lesson for me, never ever loan out a T stick.

Yea It is Micheal Its a 3G broadband service, and they charge a bomb if you go over your quota.
I want to go on 3G so i have internet constantly but I dont know what service to pick.
Anyway back on the intended subject,
Mild convergence so far, a high RH.
DP is expected to drop so this may make the storms take to a higher cloudbase.

Hosing down here for the last few hours, and from the looks of the rain radar the heavy stuff seems to be zeroing in on us for a bit longer yet. Another 24mm in the last 24 hrs.
