must be some good snow at tekapo, looking towards lake level station on webcam you can barely see anything, it's a whiteout.

Pouring at the moment and has been for the last hour. Easily the heaviest of the rain today.

Rain has picked up here too steady with a wee hint of sleet even, in Christchurch its light rain though shows what the SE flow does apon the sheltering affect.
Mark would be getting the same as here as you are away from the Peninsula, and have that channel to the south through Birdlings flat.

Re: System 9-10th October effecting central/eastern areas
Hoping this system holds enough to go out to springfield again after work. I finish at 9pm so hopefully some steady enough snow showers still. The warning does last till 3am so fingers crossed. Not even raining here at the moment., First time it has stopped all day.

Brrr! Its freezing out there now as a southerly has developed finally after very little wind. Feels the coldest of the day by far now, even although its still around 6 degrees.

Some good periods of steady to heavy rain coming down now, ive also noticed the clouds are a darker grey and lower drifting in from the south.
A white pinky wall looking inland, definatly a snow maker.

I've been down to Whakatane, Opotiki & Whangaparaoa out East Cape way today and it's been a really miserable day. Quite cold, very low cloud and lots of rain.

Re: System 9-10th October effecting central/eastern areas
Well that cleared rather quickly look at the rain radar , although some wintry showers will possibly return overnight more or so north of Ashburton.
28mm in the rain gauge since 5pm yesterday, i think its the fullest ive seen the rain gauge in atleast 2 months.
From one system that is i mean.
Actually much of Canterbury is looking reasonably green, i know its spring and all but we havnt had that much rain over the past few months with lots of NWers and warmer temperatures.

Re: System 9-10th October effecting central/eastern areas
Snowed all day ,but turned to sleet about 4.00,still lots of snow still laying about ,with a rain gauge up to 50mm mark, till it thaws out i wont know the precise amount, would be around the 40mm mark i would think.
