Well, if your wondering where all the bad weather is..... its here!!!

It is absolutly HOWLING outside... incredibly strong winds with massive gusts!
Lots of rain in the last few hours, cold sleety yuk...

I wont be surprised if a few trees come down in the night if they havent already...

Sure wont make getting out of bed at 4am any easier in the morning LOL... :?

(did I mention the wind..?? )

Light hail shower through Dunedin just now, still cold air heading up the country

NP rain radar shows nicely the low center over the King country :)
(but with a associated low to rotate around the original low, and roll up and over the auckland area....as the models alluded too...dang I hate it when they work out)
SE movement slowed down alot
not surprised to hear of a howling SEr in Taranaki!

(I see M/S have now issued warnings about that....but it was obvious it was needed like 6 hours ago if you ask me (they did have a watch about it though))

Pretty average conditions to say the least in New Plymouth for the Taranaki Auckland game.

Wintry type showers developing now going by the latest rain radar, so perhaps hail/graupel bit of sleet even just depends how well the showers develope.
Glad i havnt put the tomatos in the glasshouse yet as i bet there will be a good frost early Sunday morning.

Yeh showers do look more evident on the radar now, more or so inland atm but should move more coastal as night goes on.

Wintry showers passing through. Just 4degees now and some hail before. Looks like showers becoming more frequent, some snow for top of port hills looks likely now.

Heaviest shower of the day now. Pelting down with some sleet too!

3.15am - it's been raining all day - had heavy falls this evening, some sleety. Since 2am we've had several heavy snow showers, some driven by a gusty southerly. Around 3am it stopped and only now has it started snowing again, light at present.

No ground cover remaining and with current 'flurries' I don't expect to awake to a white world.

The Malvern Hills had a good covering this afternoon - I think with the amount of sleety rain we've had here, there may have been some good snow falling around Springfield.

As I finish this post, it is snowing heavily again!! 8-o (3.21am)

Yes been terrible. Weather gets milder mid week but no big warm up coming and maybe a colder mass coming back onto NZ next weekend.

Couldn't see any snow on Port Hills when I last looked about 20 minutes ago, so must've all melted. Light rain showers continuing to pass over centra Chch.
Haven't heard any reports from central NI, apart from Waiouru resident reporting snow in the town this morning on Trademe forum.

Last of the snow has nearly melted away, tipped out 44mm from the rain gauge which will set this area up well for the remainder of spring.
