Max temperatures

Be interesting a % of whose who in the maximums over a 365 day period.Who gets the most annually?Where?
Counts recorded areas including Culveden,Kawereu and Waioruru etc,another even the most minimums?
Milford has been up there recently with the cold snaps.

I'd say it'd be either Kaitaia in Winter, Alexandra or Kawerau in Summer for most maximums, just wonder which has the most overall?

Could even be Darfield or some place in inland Canterbury as the nor'wester tends to mostly give the highest temps to that particular region in NZ on any given day.

Kaitaia through winter for warmth. Northeast NZ is hotter in the max averages through summer, might even be Henderson, West Auckland for summer heat.

From a quick trawl through stations with enough records for a reasonable 30-year average, one of the Kaitaia sites, followed by Te Teko, has the highest annual average maximum. For Jan-Feb some of the BOP stations would have a slight edge over anywhere else.

Breaking down to months generally it could be Kawerau/Alexandra Dec-Feb,March Auckland,Dargaville,,April,Christchurch Timaru,Blenhiem,May-Aug Kaitaia,sometimes Napier/Gisborne,Sept-Nov Napier/Hastings,Gisborne,Canterbury(little inland towns)??

Waipara used to feature alot but not so much these days?

It used to John but Waipara doesnt get the heat of next valley over,Amuri plains where Culverden is situated,because one,its further inland and two, the area is still relatively close to sea level,150m -230m.Through my work i often drive through Waipara on the way home and notice that there can often be 3-4C difference during anticyclonic periods.

Foggy-The Nor'wester tends to have a cooling influence in inland Canterbury,its when it reaches the coast that's when it pushes up temps,though the difference can very depending the origin of the air mass,Its during the periods of sea breezes that the inland area reach high temps.
