ECMWF and Metservice seems to have a reasonably settled forecast now apart from cloudy preiods in the W,fortuately the awful pattern dominating the following week doesnt arrive till after the weekend.

Looks like a bit of a soaking coming for the South Island Sunday pm into Monday while the North Island shouldn't get too much rain from this next system. Afternoon heating may trigger isolated thunderstorms over the inland North Island Monday afternoon along the weak frontal line. Waikato looks a likely spot for a buildup but will need to see how the moisture is on the day. Forecast dps are around 15C although moisture may come in too shallow for anything to fire.

Another fine day in Auckland with a max of about 18C.

Looks still to be a lowish thunderstorm risk there for the North Island from Northland down to about Waitomo tomorrow afternoon. There will need to be some good surface heating to get convection firing though, so hopefully not too much cloud cover ahead of the weak cold front due in the afternoon.

Looks to be some good development happening on the rain band heading towards here. Looks like some heavy falls for Inland Canterbury on the cards and some brief heavy falls for the city. The gardens could do with a bit of a drink. Southerly is picking up strength in the last half hour or so.

I see that a nice rain band is developing in south canterbury now, just forming inland to the west of Christchurch now so shouldnt be too far off.
No southerly here infact its NE at the moment.
Been up in Hanmer Springs for the weekend, nothing but sunshine  .
Lots of welcome rain this week by the looks and a classic thunderstorm set up mid week with that cold blast.
