That looks like the text book thunder set up over east Otago tomorrow pm with 500mb -28C from 00Z.

You get the impression looking at the long range charts that we'll end up with another cooler than average month, but nothing like Octobers departure from norm.

power surge this morn at mum n dads. i cant talk them into getting the data back online so dont think there will be data until saturday when i get down there. apparently the console was blank and saying no data hopefully its not damaged.

I see there is a thunderstorm on the front about 200km west of Auckland heading east. I doubt it will have the legs to make it here though. The air mass is very moist and looks to be elevated convection firing on the front.

Those consoles are very expensive to replace esp the NZ version... I hope it isnt cooked.

The way its going looking at the ECMWF thingy it looks as were going to follow a similar path to October unfortunately S-SW flows and it opens the door to disturbances to the south.
