Awesome day here. Taking the boat out on the lake between the milkings today for a short blast. Hardly any wind and warm.

Latest readings at M/S has Timaru 15c Oamaru 14c,Le Bons bay 12,Chch 17,must have a good NE.
Dunedin is 28c.

The airports were higher at 12pm, i.e. Timaru Aero 16C, Oamaru Aero 19C, and Dunedin Aero 29C.
At 1pm Dunedin Aero hit 30C, Ashburton Aero 26C and Chch Aero 19C.

Got to 20C here before 10am. Was blue-dome skies, but thin status now. Currently 21.2C.

Reached 23.4º here with high cloud earlier, however the thicker cloud that was slowly progressing across Auck eventually made it here and cloudy now, 22.7º. Nice and warm

Funny temp spread here.... At home it's 29.4°C, the Metservice obs show the airport at 30°C and in town it is noticably cooler... only 19.4°C on the Council's website

Hot here today currently 31 degrees. When i was in dunedin in weekend there looked like there was a storm developing down toward milton on saturday but it didnot produce anything

Can someone please tell me what the clouds are doing off to the west of Christchurch? I'm going for a cycle this evening and might take my camera along. Is there any chance of a nice sunset underneath all this high cloud? I don't have any vantage point from my house to see if there is blue skies over there or not, cheers.

26 degrees here now at CHCH airport, warmest currently in CHCH. Still light ENE heavily overcast so very good doing considering everyone else has had some blue sky (such as dunedin) except us!

Update: 25 now at 7pm at CHCH aero.

At Jeffs and here around 24 degrees with light ESE to ENE. Very high dewpoints for CHCH standards.

Been up to 29 here in rangiora today, has been hot and windy since about 1pm and the wind has been up to gale since about 6pm.
Current temp at 10:10pm is still 26.1c and still a very strong NW.

Why has M/S even bothered to put the expected high for chch today down to 20c

Interesting variances in wind directions and timings, its been a breezy NWer here since about 6pm before that it was light NE for much of the day.
Just wonderful outside 24C currently not bad for just after 10pm, managed to reach 27C just after 6pm.
Generally overcast with long fine spells around midday, but some spots of rain around 9am and again at 3pm.

My thoughts exactly. They did that when the observed Daytime highs were taken not allowing for the increase when the NW kicked in. I havent had a NW blowing just a ESE with max gust 5km/h. SW change here now i think as 12km/h SSW. 22 degrees.

Just went out for a cycle with my camera round the back of the airport and out to Macleans Island. Just absolutely perfect weather for a ride. Took some snaps but unfortunately my timing was something to be desired as I started heading back toward town just as things started to look nice. Managed to get a couple of good snaps which I'll post tomorrow.

Interesting now have a 24km/h SW here now and the temp has gone up a degree. At 10:10pm wed had no wind what so ever since about 2pm and in the past half hour a SW breeze has kicked in but no temp drop as yet, some sort of warm front first or something....not that it wasnt warm

It will be all that warm air sitting around getting moved by the SWer Leighton, it sure is a very strong SWer here a good 40-50kmh at times.

It has been a very warm night yeah!!
Managed to make a good use of it going out to the nets " cricket" was no wind at all to speak of and just dead calm!
Was sitting on 25C at around 7 30 according to jeffs apparently.
This morning was bit dull with cold NE blowing and low cloud wasn't much in the way of rain.

At 12Z, Kaikoura Aero reported a max temp within the last hour of 29.2C.

Interesting! Yes, I see MetService obs show 16C for Kaikoura at 9pm and 27C at midnight - quite a jump with the NW'er kicking in!

I also noticed that Chch pre-midnight Metars were a few degrees higher than MetService obs, i.e. Metars went from 20C at 11pm (M/S 17C) to 16C at midnight - seems odd?

Over 40 kt gale NW'ers overnight at Castlepoint (Wairarapa) and Stewart Island's SW Cape.

Very warm overnight temps in Akld at around 17C.
