Plus, if you live out of the main centres you don't have any rain radar at all on sky, grrr!

I see my .co.nz bookmarks now get redirected to the new .com page.

I think a lot of the stuff I've looked for is too hard to find now, I prefer the old site.

it is going to take a bit of getting used to
and us humans dont like change (especially the older we get)
but we will get there I suppose

I hope it was not change for change sakes, i.e what was the real reason behind the need to change?

Very slow to use, impossibly so on laptop. Will need to look to other weather sites if it doesn't improve.

i dont mind it... there are that many links for the maps on each page i tend to not use the back button.

What i do like is the individual maps they have for the 3 day 7 day rainfall predictions and the rain radars. Especially with the rain radar for all of new zealand, if you click on one of the images you get a huge rain radar image for the entire country!

lets be honest, any change is going to have haters and lovers. noones going to be pleased 100%.

from a web dev point of view, it looks nice, is ajaxy and fun, the urls are nice. it looks like its built on a nice framework, so extensibility shouldnt be too bad in the future.

from a users perspective, it works, is mostly accessible - could use some improvement in navigation, especially to those of us used to the old site, as brian mentioned. but its a great start. no doubt there will be changes and improvements in its lifetime.

I preferred the old radar etc where you had static images. These new moving ones with the statics below just eat un-necessary bandwidth and slow the heck out of the connection.

Metservice guys watching the forum, how about a separate leaner option for those of us using expensive slow mobile internet?

This new website totally sucks. I pity any farmers trying to use it on a slow dial up connection. Even in the city on a quickish CDMA T Stick mobile connection it's bad. I shudder to think what it's going to be like on a rural mobile connection.

Metservice needs to provide links from these new pages to a page similar to the old one where you only get the info you want rather than all this extra stuff rammed down your throat. We could then bookmark the links.

I'm not looking forward to trying to get the latest info when mobile next time (this afternoon?).

I wait with interest to see the reaction from those in the rural sector with their patheticly slow connections, no way of getting inexpensive faster internet and being faced with this new site every time they want to see the latest radar image or get the latest rain forecast etc.

Yes I have sent an e-mail to Metservice expressing my concerns, I suggest any others who share my feelings do the same.

I have to say that the new site is pretty impressive. However the current temperature for Christchurch, as indicated on the site, is 25 deg C whereas the Maxiumum is 23 deg C. I know it is only for the general public but you would think that that they could get the computer to adjust the max temp when it is exceeded.

The MetService's forecasts are not well written on the Website, tonight, Wednesday the 15th.
Whoever types them up should check first before posting [-X
As this is a vital public information source, everything posted on it should be 100% correct, not typed out at will

No I wasn't.
The reports weren't written properly and should of be checked before putting up on line.
A government service should be 100% correct before posting.
That's the trouble these days, things are slap happy.
I ALWAYS check postings before I post them up.

I quite like it how it says the following:
'Feels like 21°C : 1 layer of clothing'
I wonder what the limit on 1 layer of clothing is....
