Good job too Looks as if December at this stage is turning into a far better pattern month after last month.

Good to see the west coast getting some nice weather today. Been unsettled here with 8mm rain after about 10.50 this morning - cleared up 2-3 hours later, but some light drizzle at present.

This is numbing and upsetting news to read this morning and it is a tragedy. I am certain the deaths of these cows would have been instantaneous and atleast for today I can find some solace and comfort in that thought

A nice summers day for Auckland.

Looks quite possible isloated thunderstorms will pop up over east North Otago to Christchurch this afternoon with the S change. The high cloud needs to clear out.

Looking brighter to the west now,hopefully the NW pushes the cloud through so we can get some heating in before the southerly hits.

On the humid side here today, 15C dewpoints making the current 22C feel warm.
Isolated thunderstorms on the Front to the west.

I suppose they are dairy cows so wouldn't "meat" the end of their friends in other cattle farming operations.
If anything is a "tragedy", it's the way that meat cows are treated on their way to being killed at the abattoir. Getting killed by lightning is more peaceful than what happens to meat moo moos on their way to our dinner plates.
I feel more sorry for the farmer, hope he has insurance.
We surely don't need words like "numbing" and "tragedy" for a bunch of cows killed quickly whilst chilling out under a tree. There are millions of things happening everyday in the word more fitting for such words.

I was honest with how I felt at that time when I typed that post - attack the idea by all means - you are after all entitled to your own opinion of which I respect.

Know also that I do encourage robust and healthy forum debate - however in this instance - do not attack me for the way how I felt!

I do have deep respect for all farmers and deep empathy for this Northland farmer, his family and the financial strain that must come with the loss of the cattle.

Grief... my sister and her husband lost their farm during the ash wednesday bushfires... a farm that had been in the family for many generations.
