Bought a Davis VP2

Hey all, I just bought a wireless Davis VP2 with 24hr fan-aspirated shield. Also got the datalogger with basic software and anemometer transmitter kit so I can mount the wind vane up on the roof by itself.

Should I find the provided weatherlink software limited I will think about purchasing your lovely weather-display software Brian ;)

Hopefully this means I can guarantee more accurate readings from Howick now
Very happy as I have been wanting one of these for a few years now!

Haha Brian yes I read up on lots of things before I purchased, I indeed know that data drop-out faults are reported about the USB datalogger but that's the one I got because my computer doesn't have a serial port.

Not really a early pressie since I paid for it myself ;)

you can still use a serial data logger by getting a usb to serial adaptor from DSE

you will need to install weather link to get the usb data logger driver installed
but make sure to not set wlink to use usbexpress mode

Well it took 1 day to arrive from Hamilton :D

It's all functional now, just need to calibrate wind direction before the anemometer goes on the roof, and need to get a post and cement to mount the rain and temp/hum sensors in the yard.

Love the every-few-seconds updates on the console!

Hey Brian, I am currently using a free trial of weather-display (thanks to Tim for helping set this up)

Here's a pic of it running. Note that the wind meter is the only thing outside yet, and also that its directions may not be properly calibrated yet (but hard to tell with light winds we are getting currently).

After 2pm the line looks different because I changed the datalogging interval to 1min instead of 5mins.

I finished installing the weather station yesterday morning, and finished tidying up around it this morning. Here's some pics of the final result.

Excellent... :)

Glad I don't have that much yard to look after, heck I have no lawn for my temp sensor.

Using the free software 'Cumulus' I have got some data online here http://howickweather.orgfree.com/weather/index.htm

But note it won't be updated between about 11pm and 8am.
