Woo hoo! Massive downpour just now in Sydenham, water coming UP out of the drain in the carpark - nice big thunderclap to accompany it as well

Re: Canterbury Thunderstorms - 14th December 2009
It's gone very dark here again and the rain has started...but no hail so far. Clouds moving to the NW pretty fast, and the blue sky to the North is dissapearing fast. I have no idea how to add attachments or i'd add a photo.

Re: Canterbury Thunderstorms - 14th December 2009
Not much here in rangiora, barely enough rain to wet the ground, no hail, not much thunder, just low cloud and cold and the wind has gone to the south now.

Re: Canterbury Thunderstorms - 14th December 2009
Just got power back on after a 25 min outage. At the time of the outage I was just typing how we were only now starting to hear some rumbles after a day of blue skies and fluffy clouds. The storm which just went over was pretty anemic - barely wetted the ground, very few strikes, but I guess it only takes one to put the power off...
