The storm taken at 4.30 going by the radar was near Oxford,MS are saying its heading towards Waipara,but i think it heading straight toward us

Woo hoo! Massive downpour just now in Sydenham, water coming UP out of the drain in the carpark - nice big thunderclap to accompany it as well :D

It's gone very dark here again and the rain has started...but no hail so far. Clouds moving to the NW pretty fast, and the blue sky to the North is dissapearing fast. I have no idea how to add attachments or i'd add a photo.

Just had more lightening and heavy rain started again with tiny bits of hail <1cm.

Oh my, it's arrived with vengeance... it's white outside now.. hammering down... v. loud thunder and lightning flashing around... video to follow... have to attend to my bruises first (from hail!)

Getting louder, hail stopped but lightning increasing... almost constant rumbles now..

Not much here in rangiora, barely enough rain to wet the ground, no hail, not much thunder, just low cloud and cold and the wind has gone to the south now.

Sorry this isnt about canterbury but i thought i would just share it anyway.
Pics of a distant thunderstorm over the Hawkes Bay Ranges, heard a few rumbles of thunder from it.

Just got power back on after a 25 min outage. At the time of the outage I was just typing how we were only now starting to hear some rumbles after a day of blue skies and fluffy clouds. The storm which just went over was pretty anemic - barely wetted the ground, very few strikes, but I guess it only takes one to put the power off...

It's dropping here, too, from a sunny 19 earlier to just over 10degs now.. drizzling.. no thunder heard since large clap about 10 mins ago...
