New Years day 2010 weather
New Years day all models pointing to a cold trough the day before, little rain likely as it passes on new years eve especially the far north and east and back to more of the trashy weather that we had over late spring.

Re: New Years day 2010 weather
The SW'er ar will be stable for Auckland so expect a fine New Years Eve/New Years day.
Looks like a major trough starts affecting the South Island from New Years day.

Trend looks to be cooler flow onto NZ, looks like Ridging over the north will keep much of the cooler weather to the south of here, SW flow is generally a good direction for Auckland in Jan, our weather menace this time of year is a sub tropical Low .back to more of the trashy weather that we had over late spring.

Re: New Years day 2010 weather
Morning,
Spwill or NZSTORM would it be poss to have a forecast for Sunday, 3 Jan for inland Hukerenui country? - have a 60th on that day.
Setting up Marquee etc day before ( will it be wet and windy that day?) have folks travelling from Gisborne - Nelson - Taranaki arriving 2nd Jan etc and they're all camping in the field.
What would be most helpful is if we knew what direction the wind will coming from on that day? we hope it's not a northerly or NE as it will be dusty as heck down on the flats.

Be good to get a NEer for a change,a good one the better ie gale force and need some rain here too also if it persists could blow some of the needles out of the guttering rather than just making a mess,I dont like heights much and takes ages to get them out and no way on a hot day like today.

Re: New Years day 2010 weather
Next weeks weather doesn't look too bad with high pressure dominating. There will be fronts in the South Tasman aimed at Southland/Fiordland no doubt. May also be afternoon showers over the inland North Island due to some moisture there.

Re: New Years day 2010 weather
Looks like Christchurch should get 30C Friday and Gisborne 30C+ Saturday. So a quick recovery in temperatures for eastern regions for the first day of 2010.
