Anticyclones that look and act like snails

The anticyclone currently in the "bight" looks like a snail with the centre (shell) etc over the bight and the head in the tasman(the awful Southwesterly airflow part of the high) and also acts like a snail as its slowness to arrive over the tasman and to give us it looks like a week of boring cold SW like last Easter. :(

Yes, that high looks firmly anchored to the south of Australia. Atleast it is sending a ridge our way. Looks to be a cold wet southerly moving up the east of the country now in advance of that ridge. 11C at Christchurch this afternoon.

Wellington(airport) this eveing is now averaging 36knots gusting 45kts.
Temperature 13C with rain. Lovely stuff.
