I'm not sure either Michael. We had thunderstorms to the SW of Palmerston North, yesterday and to the E of Palmerston North today. If I find out any more info, I will let you know.
Michael, that funnel cloud that you asked about, was spotted over Tangimoana. The photo that was on the TV news, was in tonight's Manawatu Standard. Apparently it lasted for about 10 minutes.
