My question is, why are the Met Service forecasting a max of just 22C for Auckland, Saturday. That number looks too low.

Their website has said 26 all day. I saw 22 on TV3 weather - no idea where they got that number from

I saw 22C for Sarturday early yesterday on the Met Service website.

Looks to be a chance of an isolated thunderstorm popping up over western Waikato to Auckland today. We are looking for a SW sea breeze to come in and converge with the SE. However, like yesterday, there could be issues with the moisture mixing out as the day warms up.

Gisborne region looks in the firing line for some heavy subtropical rain tomorrow. Some embedded thunderstorms will really push rain rates up in a few spots, particularly over those ranges.

The convergence did develop this afternoon with struggling t/cu on it but I notice a cb just to the north of here now. And Ricky's tracker shows strikes in the Waikato direction.

How about extending this to the end of the month.
The last hour an a half it has been bucketing down with IC lightning overhead non stop, still going with scuddy funnels dancing over the bombays. Well before lunch whilst out shopping there was heaps of convection over the other side all tracking in a general ENE direction.

This is high precip stuff.. the gutters have finally given up and it looks more like a curtain of water around the house than anything else.

I snapped this pic approx an or so ago to show the lovely blue skies out over the pacific eastside - much to my horror - I realized that someone had taken to placing a road cone on top of this beautiful tree down on the beach!!! marring the beautiful horizon!!!
