Re: General April Weather
Steady to heavy rain woke me up, so i zipped out to the rain gauge already 3.5mm has fallen.
Wind is actually breezy NW and i know this too because our deck facing NW is wet.

Re: General April Weather
Got 7.5mm here overnight, much more than thought. Just as well as first measured rainfall for April and now 110mm to date this year. The outlook period looks dry as a bone once again so appreciated. For once we got some rain here, last couple changes snowstormwatcher has been getting the rain or showers and it has been completely missing here.snowstormwatcher wrote:Fine here this morning there was a slight frost first thing this morning overnight low of 1.5 degrees. Metservice going for a low of 7 in Queenstown , cloudy skies overnight down there. Dry cool air to move across Auckland overnight with clear skies. I see dewpoints in Wellington are only 2C, around 0C in ChristchurchMetservice going for a low of 5 in Auckland tonight.
Looks like a rather stable W/ SW flow for the week ahead, waiting for the rains to arrive here.

Re: General April Weather
10mm overnight here, rain was off and on heavy at times overnight.
Someone at work said they didnt get rain until around 5am, so obviously very isolated falls.
I also heard on the radio this morning somebody had reported a clap of thunder in the Timaru area around midnight during heavy rain.
This rain will keep the fire risk safe for now and with more showers forecast for tomorrow night and Monday so we can only hope for more rain.
Light frost tonight perhaps?

Re: General April Weather
Looking like a good frost here overnight provided the high cloud stays away already down to 4.5 degrees.

Christchurch is usually recives a lot more rain from the southwesterly than we do as we are sheltered from the southwesterly we tend to get most of our rain from the south southeast. So far this year we have had 187.5mm of rain which is slightly above average.

This Admore site has 3.4C at 5:23am and I think Whenuapai was close to 5C this morn.NZstorm wrote:Ive got 9.1C here at daybreak. The 5C prediction didn't look right! Ardmore Airport has 5C but thats rural.
But yes, 9.2C here also at 7:10am and about 9C at Akld Aero.
Yes, a couple of reasonable dumps this month have bumped Akld Aero's ytd rainfall from 56mm to 87mm - so no longer the driest site in the region.Manukau heads observer wrote:124mm year to date here

Just 72mm here so far this year. Also very dry on the North Shore - ytd 75mm for Albany and 76mm for Whangaparaoa.

Re: General April Weather
Looks like the MS in off on some of their predictions today. Some centres are already off by 6degrees. Looks to be much warmer than 17C with the NW flow coming through. MS has 18C for Timaru, yet its 24degrees.
