Another dull day in Chch (payback for the sunny, warm weather before the dull spell set in), but dry as well.

Just noticed those beafy CB clouds to the south not bad :D , CU congestus developing above here and to the NW too atm.
Maybe some heavy showers later on, i thought there was a thunderstorm looking at that CB to the south.

Dark grey black looking line of cloud running from SE to SW at the moment, mixed with CU congestus looking like it wants to open up and pour down.
Took this photo half an hour ago of some stronger CU to the north from here.
Edit: An hour later that converged line came through with some light spotty rain and a southerly breeze, lots of Mamatus about too now.

Yes those clouds did look thundery today, that CB jase did look good for a stage, infact the whole of the south looked very unstable at lunch!
Driving home at about 3 30, got a nice heavy shower under what must of been a convergance line.. witch also looked thundery from a distance driving into it. hmm interesting wee afternoon really! :-k

I have heard that forecast low of 3C on the radio and my immediate thoughts were a misprint.

At this stage cold air from the south is prevented by anticyclones far to the south but advective snow would still be possible in easterly flows.

Wow nice views this morning  similiar looking grey skies here though with no fog layer - currently 9 C out - no wind. Snapped this pic last evening of skies looking west.

Looks like the Met Service prediction of 3C for Auckland didn't materialise, not that we thought it would. Grey Lynn min was 7.2C. A sloppy bit of forecasting by Met Service considering we are having a warm season.
