Moved through pretty darn fast. Gave 7mm rain and 2 or 3 rumbles of thunder. First thunderstorm for over 7 months

great downpour alright, 205mm/hr rate at one point and lots of great overhead lightning report of Hail Onewa rd on the shore

Cumulus Congestus with rainshafp over Mill Bay Mangonui taken this morning at 10.00am - skies above me west and north are towering with CB's the sun is out - have recieved 5mm from the rains today so far.

Very very dark CB over the BOP atm, will attach a pic.

Went out about 1 1/2 hours ago for a bit of a drive.

Filthy mess passed over without so much as a bang, but lots of rain.

Has come out reasonably clear now, with that big band of rain heading south.

A couple of CB's bubbled up way out west on the coast.

the squall line that came through here had the potential to drop a funnel

although M/S now have a watch out for taranaki

Brian, Keep an eye out to your NW, it seems a small line of CB's may clip the Manuakau Heads.
Blue arrows indicate the current trend.

the CB's are not looking as good as they were before it got dark..tops very blown off...
i like the look of the next cluster rotating around the main center...

One thing I never heard is "squall warnings" in general reports,usaully was wind warnings or thunderstorm warnings though they used to say showers could be squally?
