Today's SWO has amended it to heavy rain but I think there would be lots of snow on Fiordland/Westland upper peaks.

Probably not quite pertaining to metservice,I remember in the "old days" listening to the old 2ZB the likes, giving the weather forecast in Wellington as Northerlies or southerlies, not NW or SSE/SE which seem to be the true wind directions down there.

Metservice forcasts for both Timaru and Ashburton yesterday were showers clearing in the afternoon which was roughly right yet at 11am today they changed there forcast to fine weather yet there orignal forcast of showers in the morning was right. Seems a bit weird they had there forcast right to start with then they change it.

The forecasts give the directions properly as far as I've heard, especially in the case of Cook Strait. In "those days" they may have assumed their listeners couldn't cope with anything too complicated.

I didnt realise that metservice changed there forcast to an afternoon forcast after 11am as there is no mention of this on there website. I thought that they would have kept the same forcast throught out the day as anyone reading the forcast could get the wrong idea. As there is no mention of the showers that have been falling during the morning. But given the fact that there was still shower activity around the Ashburton area untill early afternoon i think that metservice issued the forcast for fine weather prematurely.

They still have ads on the old site.
Even though, they don't have rain radar imagery, I use the old site for latest weather charts as the new site sometimes dosen't update them, also the satelitte imagery is bigger. <3

A forecast is a forecast, not a description of past weather. Therefor a forecast issued at 11am or later does not, and should not make any reference to the mornings weather.

The Met Service are running with an overnight low for Auckland of 10C and yet our dewpoints will be 13-14C all night!
I checked the gfs and it has a low of 13C. So not sure were the Met Service found the 10C.
