Re: Even Deeper Subtropical Low - May 23-27
I stand corrected i was putting the information in the wrong column .
Yes it is sleeting xafordgod if you stand in front of an outside light or street light you will see it, or just let your jersey get some drops.
Getting a good shower now with big sleet droplets mixed in.

Lol, down my street in kainga, we only have one street light and its pretty crap. I think a candle would be brighter....lol. Was outside just before, was raining with a couple of droplets of sleet. It seems to be on and off......

Re: Even Deeper Subtropical Low - May 23-27
Also looking at the models precipitation forecast looks to have decreased substancially. Showing no rainfall first thing tomorrow now and concentrated more on eastern Otago andonly as far north as South Canterbury.

Re: Even Deeper Subtropical Low - May 23-27
Today hasnt been a crap cold blast im quite happy with what iv seen.
Had some good hail/sleet showers basically all morning, and more just cloudy dull, cold weather this afternoon but back to sleet at the moment.
Iv been a tad busy so havent really had a chance to look at all the models and forcasts etc, but i wouldnt be at all surprised if we are only on 3C at this current time.
Not bad wee snap.

We will see what happens, latest radar shows a real dotted bunch of chain showers moving through on a SW flow.

Re: Even Deeper Subtropical Low - May 23-27
Rain falling steadily in the city in the last hour. Moderate with the odd heavier fall. 13mm today so far. Looking over the past 5 days for the here. 37mm, 35mm, 57mm, 9mm, so far today 13mm.
The radio just said its one degree here in Halswell, singled us out from the rest of CHCH. Its raining steady and one degree....I would expect sleet at worst if that was the case. Its just cold rain however. Snow level should rise. The only threat here is surface flooding over the next 2 days with very high lake levels around the corner still up.

Good snowfalls in Hanmer and Lake Tekapo overnight.
Looks like a period of heavier snow this afternoon for inland Canty.
Steady rain here and 3.6 degrees

Re: Even Deeper Subtropical Low - May 23-27
Hello chaps! The latest from my wife is that very light but steady snow has been falling in the high country since last night and every thing is white. Apparently the snow is not deep, perhaps an inch or so, but the snow is still falling steadily. She says it is that sticky wet snow rather than fine powedery stuff.

Re: Even Deeper Subtropical Low - May 23-27
looks like we are missing out on the bulk of todays rain, more inland, some sort of sheltering affect occurring I think. Only very light misty drizzle.

Having been up the port hills today I dispute that comment. Very wet up there, and here in cracroft still too.
