Has anyone reported in from Dunedin/Taieri recently? The Taieri river looks like its in full flood mode now. Would love to see some pics of all the flooding and landslides around town. Wish I was back at home to report in for you guys.

Hi from soggy Hastings! We have had today (9am-5.30) 58mm, most of this has been since 3 this afternoon and its still coming down fairly heavy. Fair amount of surface flooding around town, though Havelock North seems to have missed out on this as we went out for a drive at about 4.45pm and it was alot drier out there.

There was a bit about it on TVOne news this evening.
Lots of pictures including 1/2 of a Red Cross place being demolished by a landslide.
lots of flooding around southern Otago areas like Henley and Milton.

Minor rainshadow effect of BP shelters Chch in a southeasterly flow, which we've got now according to latest weather map.

Bits of fog rolling in, however I think we will see a return to some patchy drizzle this evening or overnight with some light remaining showers clearing tomorrow. Latest GFS run, shown on MS 7 day maps shows prospect of more heavy rain mid next week as yet another subtropical low moves down the country, followed by a southerly change later in the week with maybe some snow to low levels.
