53mm to 9am at the Nelson Aero grass site, and a max of 16C which must have been recorded either around midnight or in the last few hours.

I also noticed they have changed our predicted max today from 12 to 17C. :)

She's really blowing out there from the SW at the moment. Just waiting for the band to change around from NW to SE and move from SW to NE should happen in the next hour or two

Hi Tim S. You might also be interested in this PWS in NE Nelson (53m asl). Temps shot up from about 12C to 16C just before 9pm last night.

Temps ranged between about 15C to 17C (mostly 16C) for the 10 hrs to 7am this morn. Whereas for the previous 20 hrs to about 9pm yesterday, temps ranged between about 11C and 13C (mostly 12C).

Lol, it was more windy here for once, hahahaha
Had gusts up to at 51.5 km/h 4:09am

WXSIM has outlined possible thunderstorms today with the most risk around 12pm to 1pm.

There is another low coming our way on Friday and it seems that is quite unstable too.

Keep an eye out on the models everyone :)

Cheers for that Nev, that ones only a stones throw from where I am staying at the moment. I am not surprised there is another station online, there probably is more as I have noticed quite a few anemometers on peoples roofs and balconies around here. I wonder how many of them are plugged in and operating though. It seems the general public are a lot more aware of the weather over here, I guess that comes with the fact we have weather in NZ as apposed to perth.

Looking at the Baro drop on that station, it dropped 31hpa in the 24 hrs to midnight overnight, impressive!

Having just said all this about the heavier rain working its way northwards again through this region it appears the latest model has the bulk in South Canterbury and moving eastwards out to sea now. Not much rain at all from this event here. 12mm from Yesterday and today only. I was thinking over 50mm at least. Hopefully this set up changes the rain band is still moving southwards even although the wind is a strong SSW here.

Interesting snow reports.

Maybe a clap of thunder or two for Auckland as well as some hail early Monday as that upper cold pool moves across.

Southerly now up to gale near Akaroa, with driving (but not heavy) rain. Cold, but at about 9C, not enough for snow on the hills yet.

That upper cold pool is starting to fire up nicley, as it heads towards the top of the North Island.

Rain now heavier out here with winds still up to gale. Seems like only southern/southwestern BP is getting it - looks like nothing at Le Bons Bay according to obs.
