Central Otago high country snow

These pics were taken on the 5th of June. This was the first big snowfall of the season from the the weekend before. The photos are around the base of the Hawkdun Range top end of the Manuherikia valley about 1 hours drive north of Alexandra.

Great shots! each of those photos probably have more snow in them than on the entire Nelson Lakes Mountain range. :) In that first shot it looks like that little lake is frozen over, was the ice thick or was it just a surface layer?

Yes the pond was frozen enough to walk on. Snow depth was about 15-25cm around the bottom of the mountain. On the mountain i would guess around 50-100cm and deeper. :>
