Nice captures Spwill and NZstorm!
Update: It seems the Front is shifting back into the Waikato as it has started raining here again!
That will pose a real threat for flooding for southern Auckland and northern Waikato!

Youre not kidding, it was absolutely non stop torrential from about 10am onwards & didnt let up, will find out how much we go when the farmer gets here but judging by the amount of water in the paddocks just afer the peak & my own front lawn turned into a lake (which I had never seen before in all the time here) we must have got damn close to triple figures in the gauge, if not over.

Phenominal rain, hardest & most prolonged I have seen here yet.
Sun now please.. (ps nice fog earlier, just starting to burn off now)

Some big totals of that Environment Waikato site. Castle Rock on the Coromandal had 110mm in 6hrs with a storm total of 200mm. Much of northern Waikato looked to have had storm totals of over 100mm (30hr period). Goes to show what a bit of cold unstable air can do.

Only 101 mm here in Grey Lynn
Herald shows 152.6mm for Auckland, I think that is from the Airport with 37mm from yesterdays front.

Drizzle persisting here in Halswell. Been out twice today, once into riccarton and the other just on other side of town and very little drizzle out those ways, much lighter anyways. The radar shows that a little tiny spot has been sitting on Halswell most of the morning. 8mm so far today.

Damage from yesterday was only 60mm.. seemed a hell of a lot more than that, where I get my firewood from, ol mate there said it was the heaviest prolonged rain he had seen in over a decade & pointed out to the stream which had debris all over the fence, he was down there patching it up. Further south into pukke was 75 & 90mm respectively on the other farms, but for this one alone have cracked 220mm for the month including yesterday. Farmer said the big 3 hour downpour a few months back during that week of thunderies which flooded out Pukke (cant find the thread but people relevant to it know where it is) had over 100mm dumped in that time, barely 5 kms S of here it happened but again I dont recall such intensitys in the time Ive been here.

Doing a post data report for my own benefit.
Some very nice TCu & Cb's around atm, been raining here lightly for around 30 mins.

The mid winter sunshine was strong enough today to produce some nice towering Cu and a few weak showers but it stayed dry around. We also had some morning fog.

Nice photos, Mt Eden is a great place to photograph weather.
Up in Hanmer last night / this morning, alot of surface flooding about in paddocks and many streams that are normally a trickle pretty full to over flowing.

Was a good view indeed, the guys in Oz got some great photos too.

Just had a brief hail shower here with accompanying heavy rain, some pretty nice looking coldies marching in.

'Coldies' is a great name for those wintry cb's.

The unstable front in the Tasman moves in tomorrow but current indications are thats its instability will weaken as it approaches. Could be isolated ts for Taranaki and Waitomo though.
