www.weathermap.co.nz activity forecasts

Unread post by Kazz_01 »

This is a new free forecast site produced by MetOcean Solutions - where I work - and I think it's great. Have a look at the forecast maps for rain, wind and temperature forecasts, and go to the detailed forecast for the week ahead in six hourly breakdowns. Table or graph view available (I can't do without my graph view each day!)

WeatherMap gives a reasonably localised forecast, which is handy in New Zealand where conditions may be very different just 20km apart.

It also brings to you activity forecasts; surfing, boating, golf, gardening, farming, laundry, shopping, pets, roads and airport forecasts aso you can easily see what days are good to do what. An additional quirky forecast provides a hair frizz factor rating – a must for working out when you may have a bad hair day!

WeatherMap is driven by the sophisticated computer weather models run by MetOcean Solutions (http://www.metocean.co.nz) – providing high resolution and high accuracy.

Nice site, I like the maps  When you say 'sophisticated computer weather models run by MetOcean Solutions' does this mean it has nothing to do with the GFS ? And how often do the maps update?

I'm pleased you like the site and we welcome any feedback. Don't hesitate to send us an email with your comments - there is a feedback section on the weathermap.co.nz. The maps are updated four times a day, and the data are from our WRF cycles which run at 6 - 18 km resolution out to 7 days ahead.
