Yes and the wind speed here is still increasing, recorded my highest gust of 44km/h just before 5pm. Baro still dropping, 18 points in 18 hours so far. Not sure what the pressure drop in the low itself is though.
After a brief spell where the rain eased off, it looks like it is starting up again.

Channel Island has sustained winds of 87km/h gusts to 105.
Windy at my house now...the gusts are shaking it a bit and the wind howling through the windows from time to time.

Maybe here too, just cold and wet, wind not excessive either, there were 3 genko leaves left,a gust blew 2 of them at 2pm or abouts but still the remaining 1 at nightfall so no gale.

Mean E'erly winds of at least 52 km/h on the Waitemata and 74 km/h out at Tiritiri Lighthouse.

5mm of light rain here so this arvo. I see KerikeriWeather has had 47mm today.

P.S. That 13C around noon was fairly short-lived - back down to about 11C here now.

Yes, but you'll always get much higher winds at Channel lsland, because it lies in the Coleville Channel where winds get funnelled between the Coromandel Peninsula and Great Barrier Island. So winds speeds quoted from there aren't really representative of the Hauraki Gulf.

Some cracker days down here while the low is creeping down over the North Island, especially today with 14C the high and looks the same tomorrow.
Does look as if we will get a swipe of steady rain into Thursday at this stage, snow down to the 500m mark but to lower levels by Friday.

Still pretty wild out here - 37mm so far. The Coromandel's Pinnacles nearing 140mm.

Mean winds at midnight were at 69 km/h on the Waitemata and 93 km/h at Tiritiri (89 km/h at 7am).

Reports of lifted roofing iron on a couple of North Shore houses last night and trees and debris being blown across roads out west. A tree also fell on a powerline, cutting power to more than 1300 customers in Waimauku last night.

Yes in a few hours it is going to be very wet for the likes of Gisbourne as that rain moves further east. I think Auckland area could see some more good heavy rain throughout most of today as it looks to backtrack a little as well as the low deepens towards Gisborne. Speaking of which, it must be a real concern with the system coming to a hault over the region cause i hate to say it but look at what GFS is putting out for next Monday.

I was talking about the system coming through to Gisborne later today and the possible seriousness of this system bearing in mind another could be brewing. Sorry.

Thats been the problem this winter as far as thunderstorms go, been to the north. I get the feeling we will have a thunderless winter this year, caused by La Nina.

Rain should ease up in Auckland today. Hopefully no more rain this week.

It would be nice if that high pushed under the SI and shunts that thing off to the northeast.

Usually Northland is lumped into Aucklands forecast with maybe a degree higher there(Whangarei),this year (during the wet period) they have had the warm sector of the lows thus thunderstorms wheres here its cold wet stuff.

I see the Pinnacles (Coromandel) on 215mm now! That rainfall station had a fall of 220mm about a week ago.

Sun popping through the clouds in Auckland now.

Its the same low system thats why i mentioned it last night, so its not just the North Island affected by the low but Marlborough and Canterbury.
Not majorly but still part of it.
Canterbury, home of good rugby and severe storms
