Re: General July Weather
Morning,
Beautiful day out there here in this part of the country at the moment - blue skies and sunshine, currently 9 C out. Over this past week we have had tui's and silvereyes visit our garden and tree's around here - there presence has been most welcomed.

Re: General July Weather
Certainly a chilly start to July, nothing on last year though.
08/08 at the airport & not much better up here on the hill but at least the suns out which is a bonus, might be able to get some lawns done later once everything dries out!
Top pic DT.. I miss the sound of the kookaburra's from back in Brisbane so the little kingfishers that visit here occasionally, bring a smile to my face

Re: General July Weather
Not much wind all day but a NW drift in the afternoon and evening. Lovely day but cooling off again this evening so another frost likely overnight.

Re: General July Weather
With the clear skies over Canterbury over the first 4 days of this month and not much wind, you would think that we have a huge fat high over us, but we haven't.
Isn't that amazing?

Re: General July Weather
The high to the south looks as if it is going to be too strong and is going to limit any rain to minimal for Tuesday to Thursday with perhaps some more beafier showers Friday. GFS shows very little now. Latest run still shows the subtropical low end of next weekend affecting NE areas of the north island but the bulk out to the NE of the NI. Should this change somewhat further W then it could be even more significant than this one as the intensity looks even greater. Cloudier skies today here in Christchurch with a fresh NE. A more typical day for this part of the woods.

Re: General July Weather
Some agreement now with ECMWF and GFS on yet another sub tropical Low preasure system and wet easterlies next week, has been the winter of the northern low.

Re: General July Weather
Theyre not very inspirational lows, just cold backend rain and wind,no thunder or lightning.a good time to go to Wanganui for a weekend i think!

Re: General July Weather
Yes, a Low to our east is usually boring, better to have the low center out to our west with us in the warmer flow and perhaps a thunder chance, maybe next time.
Weather very slow to clear here, raining again out of medium level cloud cover, should see sunny spells this afternoon, currently 12C overnight low was 11C

Re: General July Weather
Looking reasonably settled and dryish for us in Canterbury for the foreseeable future which is great news, we've had enough precipitation to last the rest of the winter now! Maybe just a bit of drizzle/ light rain later this week but doesn't look like anything nasty.
Good stuff.

Re: General July Weather
Theres been hardly any window condensation, perhaps 5 or 6 days over the last several weeks only on the clear days, not cold enough.

...although, mind you, CRT/Blue Skies' forecast for the end of this week doesn't look all that flash...brrr...Razor wrote:Looking reasonably settled and dryish for us in Canterbury for the foreseeable future which is great news, we've had enough precipitation to last the rest of the winter now! Re: General July Weather
Yes the ECMWF continues to have this next low hitting the North Island and further west than this last one. However, GFS has the low well out to the NE of NZ.spwill wrote:Some agreement now with ECMWF and GFS on yet another sub tropical Low preasure system and wet easterlies next week, has been the winter of the northern low.

Re: General July Weather
Looks like we could see our first frost of the year in Auckland if the GFS is right about that anticyclone....finally!
