Im thinking CHCH might not see any rain and only patchy drizzle as it seems we are getting sheltered by this rain band. Its raining right through Canterbury now except CHCH city looking at radar.

Patience its only just getting developed and moving onshore, as you can see the rain is not only moving ashore but developing over land too.
Drizzle has turned to light rain here now and slowly getting thicker as to indicate its about to go up a notch to a more moderate rain.
Wind is now southerly as apposed to the NE but light that it was for much of today.
I would say some good heavy falls from midnight onwards.
Emptied the gauge when i got home another 12mm overnight, and now a further 2mm since the drizzle and now light rain.

Up to 20mm from midnight now.
Might not reach warning levels but rain below this will cause surface flooding.

Front is stalled over us . Mod/Hvy rain . Met Service indicate it will last until 0300 hrs. Our water table is very high legacy of May floods . Still lots of paddocks with ponded water

Moderate to steady rain for the past hour or so, can clearly be seen on the 10pm radar loop too.
Riveting stuff one day it will be something other than rain maybe snow or even a thunderstorm ;-) , but just for now we will stick with rain may as well after months of it  .

Total non event for CHCH. 2mm no heavy rain. Rest of Canterbury has had good solid heavy rain

Entire system from Tuesday bringing 21mm. Looked like it was meant to be close to 100mm

alrighty, picking up a nice CB lightning strikes to my wnw, and it sure is black looking out there...and nexstorm has auto ranged in too even :)

I am plotting closer in than Ricky, which going by the rain radar, is correct
(I suspect the waitakere ranges are weakening the signal for Ricky)
edit that: its ranged back out...my zoomed in map scale is not quite correct...and it plotted closer than the unzoomed map...hummm
edit...things have died a bit now...
